An Eclectic Evening

The Getty Center

The bff and I made our way to the Getty Center for a free Cathedrals show on Saturday. And what could be better than a free concert with food and drinks, and a pumped up crowd? The expansive Getty Center was just big enough for the number of people who showed. Prior to Saturday, I hadn’t really listened to Cathedrals. But, by the end of the night, I was a Cathedrals convert.

Our choice of drinks: coffee & beer.

So, I bought popcorn but didn’t want to hold it. Solution: pictured above.
FYI, that’s Sharon reaching for munchies in my purse.

The Cathedrals’ style was a blend of electronic, indie, r&b, and pop. My favorite song of the night was “Want My Love,” which featured the most r&b influence of their songs, showcased the soulful voice of Brodie Jenkins and Johnny Hwin’s smoove electric guitar skills. The SF-based band includes duo Jenkins and Hwin, Mitchell Wilcox on drums, and Jonathan Hererra on bass and synths. Though only 2 years old, the band has been making strides, gathering about 2,266 followers on twitter and 12,000 likes on their Facebook page.

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out their soundcloud!
